Georgia on a budget
Georgia is still one of the best-value destinations near Europe. Here is what a day really costs and where the savings are.
| Style | Per person per day | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Backpacker | about 100–130 ₾ | Hostel bed, public transport, bakery breakfast, one local meal, a glass of wine |
| Mid-range | about 250–350 ₾ | Double room in a good guesthouse or 3-star hotel (shared), taxis by app, restaurant meals |
| Comfort | 500 ₾ and more | Boutique hotel, driver for day trips, wine tastings and fine dining |

Ten ways to save
- Take bus 337 from Tbilisi airport for 1 ₾ instead of a 60 ₾ street taxi.
- Use Bolt or Yandex Go in cities; agree prices in advance for anything else.
- Ride the metro and buses: one fare gives 90 minutes of transfers.
- Eat lunch where locals eat. A bakery khachapuri or lobiani costs a few lari.
- Buy wine from shops and family cellars rather than by the glass in tourist bars.
- Travel between cities by marshrutka or train; book summer trains early on tkt.ge.
- Stay in family guesthouses in the regions; dinner and breakfast are often included and home-cooked.
- Share a driver for day trips; the price is per car, not per person.
- Change money in city exchange offices, not at the airport, and pay ATMs in lari.
- Visit in May–June or September–October: good weather and lower prices than July–August.
