Arrival

From the airport to your hotel

Georgia has three international airports. Here is exactly how to get into town from each one by bus, taxi app or transfer, with typical 2026 prices.

Tbilisi International Airport (TBS)

The main gateway, about 17 km south-east of the centre. Most long-haul and European flights arrive here, many of them at night. There is no metro or train link; use the bus or a car.

Cheapest

City bus 337 · 1 ₾

The stop is right in front of the arrivals hall. The bus runs roughly from 07:00 to 23:00, about every 15–20 minutes, and takes 50–60 minutes to the centre.

  • Stops include Samgori metro, Avlabari metro, Liberty Square (Pushkin Park) and Station Square.
  • Pay with a contactless bank card or a Metromoney card. The 1 ₾ fare includes free transfers for 90 minutes, so you can change to the metro.
  • Older guides call it bus 37; it is the same route.
Easiest

Bolt or Yandex Go · ≈ 25–40 ₾

The price is fixed in the app before you confirm, and you see the car and driver. The trip takes 20–35 minutes. Install the app and add a card before you fly; airport Wi-Fi works.

  • Uber does not operate in Georgia.
  • Prices rise late at night and in bad weather.
Be careful

Taxi drivers in the hall

Drivers waiting in arrivals often ask 60–100 ₾ for the same ride. If you take one, agree the price in lari before you get in. A pre-booked hotel or private transfer costs about 40–60 ₾ and is the calmest option after a night flight.

Kutaisi International Airport (KUT)

The low-cost airport in western Georgia, about 14 km from Kutaisi and roughly 230 km from Tbilisi. Many budget flights from Europe land here.

Georgian Bus to Tbilisi

Coaches leave after each arrival and take about 4 hours to central Tbilisi (drop-off near Liberty Square). Expect around 20–25 ₾. Buy at the desk in the terminal or on georgianbus.com.

Georgian Bus to Batumi

About 2–2.5 hours to the Black Sea, dropping off in central Batumi. Around 20 ₾.

To Kutaisi city

A shuttle minibus (about 5 ₾) or a taxi (about 25–35 ₾, 20–25 minutes). Kutaisi is the base for Gelati, Prometheus Cave and the Martvili and Okatse canyons.

Batumi International Airport (BUS)

Just south of Batumi, about 5 km from the centre and close to the Turkish border. City bus 10 runs along the coast into town for about 1 ₾; a Bolt or Yandex car costs roughly 10–20 ₾ and takes 15 minutes.

Live arrivals and departures

Schedules, delays and gate changes are published in real time on the official airport websites. Open the board for your airport on the day you fly.

Your first hour in Georgia

SIM card

Magti, Silknet (Cellfie) and Beeline have desks in the arrivals halls. A tourist package with plenty of data costs around 20–40 ₾. Bring your passport. Many travellers use an eSIM instead.

Money

Change a small amount at the airport only. Rates in the city exchange offices are better, and cards work in most shops, cafés and the metro. Take some cash for markets, villages and marshrutkas. See the live rates.

Visa and insurance

Citizens of around 95 countries, including the EU, UK, USA, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia, can stay up to one year without a visa. Others apply at evisa.gov.ge. Since 1 January 2026, health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL for the whole stay is mandatory; carry the policy in English or Georgian.

Does bus 337 run at night?

No. After about 23:00 use Bolt, Yandex Go or a pre-booked transfer.

Can I pay for the bus in cash?

Tbilisi buses work cashless. Tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard, a phone wallet or a Metromoney card on the validator.

Where do I buy a Metromoney card?

At the cash desk in any metro station. The card costs 2 ₾ and you top it up there or at payment terminals.
